we relocated to Rustenburg just to be closer to the park. we try to have at least 8 day visits a month. on two previous visits we were exited to have seen Rain and her three beautiful cubs but they were far away and hidden in long grass. on the 5th of this month we decided to cruise around Kgama drive as they had been seen in that area.
Driving along my fiance said look far away there's a stump I made him stop and I checked with the binos, it was one of the cheetah cubs I was so excited, but again so far away..we decided to just park as watch them we were the only one's there.
A few minutes later they started to move closer to us, my fiance jumped in the back seat and me in the drivers seat clicking away.
The sun was just coming up the light made the landscape look magical, the cheetahs came closer so I started the car but I didn't want to scare them. one came closer to see what I was doing. I slowly moved the car forward trying to take photos as well.
They looked at me strangely it felt like we had a connection but that may of been just my excitement, I could barely hold my camera still. they stayed for about 30 minutes it was only the distant voices of workers coming from the other end off the road that startled them, they crossed the road we followed them until we lost them in the thick long grass. This was one of the awesome, amazing experiences we have had in Pilanesberg with many more to come.
