Manyane Resort in the Pilanesberg National Park and is less than two hours away from Johannesburg, though Manyane Resort is a great location for those who want to enjoy a safari, it is also near tourist hotspots like Sun City and Rustenburg.
Manyane Resort is a large fenced camp in the Manyane complex, which lies on the south-east side of the park- bordering the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. It has a large reception area and a small shop that sells curios, cool drinks, water and snacks....
Manyane Resort has several types of accommodation to choose from- 10 Studio chalets, sleep two people and the 14 family chalets, sleep 4 people. The chalets are private and very cozy inside - some face onto an open veld, while others have a view into the park....
All the chalets are self catering and have a small seating area or lounge, air-conditioning, a refrigerator, TV and fully equipped kitchenette......
a separate bedroom with ensuite bathroom......
a private patio with braai area.....
nothing beats braaing under the stars with a good glass of wine.....
and watching the moon rise...
or watching the resident impala walk by.....
Manyane has 21 Safari tents, each with 2 single beds and all bedding is supplied.....
each safari tent has electricity, a tea and coffee station, heater and cupboard space, fridge and there are communal ablution facilities.
The tents do not have cooking facilities other than an outside braai area.....
There is a large camping site (some with power points and some without) and communal ablution facilities.
The small but well stocked caravan shop is situated in the camping area with communal freezers next to the caravan shop if you need a freezer for your food.
A cozy bar lies, well positioned next to the restaurant.....
the restaurant is large......
with beautiful animal paintings/murals on the walls which give a really warm feeling while dining.....
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served either in the restaurant or outside near the pool area - just beware of the monkeys that come down to steal you food.
We have had lovely meals at the restaurant with the quality of the food being good and helpful friendly staff....

Relax round the swimming-pool, while the kids play in the playground area, or relax at the Spa, or try a game of putt-putt.....
At night you can hear the jackals calling to one another and in the morning you may wake up to impala or zebra grazing in front of your chalet or tent.
The walk-in aviary is ideal for getting close up photographs of wild birds. We love the walking trail within the Manyane complex, because you get to see kudu, zebra, impala, birds, insects, vervet monkeys and warthog up close.....
If the above activities are not enough to keep you busy, then go on a self-drive safari or a guided game drive......
or try other exciting excursions like a Bush Braai or Bush Breakfast or a hot air Balloon Safari....
There are a few good hides and dams around Manyane camp....
the Pilanesberg is also good for landscape photography....

"It's 764 pages of the most amazing information. It consists of, well, everything really. Photography info...area info...hidden roads..special places....what they have seen almost road by road. Where to stay just outside the Park...camp information. It takes quite a lot to impress me but I really feel that this book, which was 7 years in the making, is exceptional." - Janey Coetzee, South Africa
