Lions at the gate

Lion moving Oryx

Lion moving Oryx

When Sherry and I were in the Kalahari this past March we were returning to Two rivers (less than 50 yards from the gate) when we spotted a Lion which had just taken down an Oryx. She was still dragging the carcass under a tree. I believe that she trapped the Oryx against the fence. That night we took a night drive and the guide was very leery about getting out of the vehicle as there were now two females on the kill. He asked that we shine our lights on the cats while he unlocked and opened the gate. No problems, but I guess I don't blame him!

Nice shots

Bob and Sherry, thanks once again for sharing your wonderful pics and experience in the Kalahari. We love this place and cannot wait to get back there in August.

We have often seen a pride of lions on the opposit side near the waterhole, it seems like this is their spot.

The best part is that all this action happened right at the camp gate!

"It's 768 pages of the most amazing information. It consists of, well, everything really. Photography info...area info...hidden roads..special places....what they have seen almost road by road. Where to stay just outside the Park...camp information. It takes quite a lot to impress me but I really feel that this book, which was 7 years in the making, is exceptional."            - Janey Coetzee, founder of CAROK (Camps and Roads of Kruger)  South Africa
