40 Years of Kalahari visits.

Since 1974 my wife and I had the privilege to visit the Kalahari 24 times and 3 times in the last 4 years with friends.

our first visit was during January 1974 with the Auob and Nossob rivers in full flood being caught up in the Nossob camp for 5 day unable to go anywhere.
We have camped in the Kuruman river before the days of fencing between farms and the river. Stayed over in Guest farms such as Ingedag near Hotazel, Leeupan near Vanzylsrust, Vischgat and Lochbroom near Askham as well as Murrey Field camp. We also stayed over at Lochmaree near the salt pans on the old road and Dunevalley dune cabin. Dunevalley is the place to experience the night sky at its best in the Kalahari. Will shortly submit our daily log by Antoinette of our recent trip. Lourens Erasmus and travel companions Danie and Antoinette Venter. The Kalahari is not just about the Kgalagadi transfrontier Park but its surrounding area and the people living there.

I had no idea there were so many guest farms on the 'alternate route' to the Kgalagadi! Looking forward to your daily log.

"It's 768 pages of the most amazing information. It consists of, well, everything really. Photography info...area info...hidden roads..special places....what they have seen almost road by road. Where to stay just outside the Park...camp information. It takes quite a lot to impress me but I really feel that this book, which was 7 years in the making, is exceptional."            - Janey Coetzee, founder of CAROK (Camps and Roads of Kruger)  South Africa
